We do so much of our shopping online these days that, when it comes to clothes or household items, we don’t give a second thought to making a purchase at a website we trust. But what about a mattress? Can you buy a mattress online as opposed to in a store? Yes, and there are some good reasons to give it a try! Here are the pros and cons.
The pros of buying a mattress online:
1. It’s easy.
Buying a Serta mattress online is simple and straightforward. You can do it from the comfort of your own home, and you don’t have to worry about haggling or sales pressure in a store. Shop when you want, and make a decision when you’re ready.
2. Easily compare mattress options.
Mattress shopping can be overwhelming — there are a lot of options! One great thing about looking online is that you can see each mattress’ features enumerated. Plus, our mattress comparison tool makes it even easier to spot the differences across mattresses. Just check the “compare” box for more than one mattress, and you’ll see what makes them distinct.
3. Return it if you don’t love it.
We think you will love your new bed, but if you don’t, you can return your Serta mattress hassle-free. Our iComfort mattresses even come with a 120-day, in-home trial period.
We ask that you spend at least 30 nights sleeping on your new mattress to allow your body time to adjust to it. Once your body has gotten used to the new mattress, you’ll know for sure whether or not you made the right selection.
4. Great delivery options.
Mattresses and foundations are shipped free of charge via white glove freight delivery. White glove freight is different than standard shipping in that the carrier makes sure the product makes it safely off of their truck. Our two-person service includes inside placement to the room of your choice, stair carries (up to two flights), unpacking, setup of a basic frame, setup of an adjustable base (if it’s available for your order), removal of debris, and removal and disposal of old bedding.
The cons of buying a mattress online:
1. You can’t try it out.
Trying out a variety of mattresses is useful if you don’t know what you want, or want to test-drive different types of mattress construction. For example, if you’ve always slept on an innerspring bed, you might be inclined to try out a foam mattress. Make sure to spend more than a few minutes testing out different mattresses, and try out the different beds in your normal sleeping position. You can even bring your own pillow to get a true feel for what the different mattresses are like.
2. It can be harder to ask questions.
Sometimes online shopping makes it harder to ask a sales associate questions about the product you’re interested in. On the other hand, you have access to a lot of product information online, and in Serta’s case, you can always call us, browse our Ask the Experts page, or send us a note.
