Memory foam mattress vs hybrid mattress, which is better?

It really comes down to your preference. A Hybrid mattress is designed to combine the comfort and conformability of an all-foam mattress, with the responsive support and bounce of a traditional innerspring mattress. Hybrid mattresses are the perfect choice for someone who wants the familiarity of a traditional mattress with enhanced pressure relief in the foam layers.

Whereas a memory foam uses different foams throughout the entire mattress construction. The comfort layers are combined with a durable and supportive foam core and it aims to provide consistent support from edge to edge. Its comfort layers work together with a durable, supportive foam core to provide consistent, edge-to-edge support that contours to your body and minimizes motion transfer, the impact of your partners' movement while you are in bed together.

FAQs

Are memory foam mattresses good?
Yes, they are good for most people, offering body contouring, excellent pressure relief, and motion isolation, which can all be beneficial for those with body aches and pains.
How long does a typical foam mattress last?
They generally last between 7 and 10 years, depending on factors such as foam quality, how often the bed is used, as well as how well it is properly cared for. High quality foam mattresses can remain supportive for a decade or more, which is why we back ours with a 10-year limited warranty.
Does memory foam sleep hot?
Yes, traditional memory foam beds can get hot because of their construction and how it would trap body heat, but there have been many advances in modern day foams that include different types of cooling technology to mitigate this problem. The industry has come a long way.
Do any of the Serta all foam mattresses get hot?
No, ours are designed with things like advanced cool-to-the-touch fabrics and covers, along with multiple layers of breathable foams featuring different types of cooling technologies built in like graphite-infused or carbon fiber memory foam that help draw heat away from the body.
Which firmness level should I buy?

Firmness, like mattress choice, will be a bit subjective from person to person. We have a few guidelines that can help you find the best fit for your needs. We recommend thinking about what you are looking for in a mattress first, and where your problem areas are.

The easiest way to narrow down what you are looking for is to dive into what sleeping positions you prefer.

Stomach sleepers tend to benefit from an overall firmer feel. Usually avoiding a pillow top model, and searching for a mattress on the Firm or Extra Firm side will help with the support the stomach sleepers need, and will not be too soft. We recommend not selecting a model that is softer than a medium feel, as that tends to be too soft for this type of sleeper.

Back sleepers tend to benefit from a Firm to a Medium feel mattress. These mattresses provide enough support to keep your neck and back aligned and offer enough pressure relief to help cradle those critical pressure points.

Side sleepers usually find themselves looking into a Medium or Plush feeling mattress. Often, side sleepers will look at a Pillow Top model to add an extra bit of softness to the mattress's comfort level. Side sleepers have critical pressure points on the hip and shoulder area that often require a bit more pressure relief than comes from a Medium mattress or softer.

These guidelines can narrow down the search a little bit, but each person is different and will have different needs. Feel free to reach out to our Customer Support team by phone or email and we would be happy to help provide you with more specific recommendations based on your individual situation!

What kind of bed frame do I need?
It is completely your choice. You can go with a traditional bed frame with a box spring, a platform or slatted frame with no more than 2” between the slats and a center support leg that extends to the floor, or any of our Serta adjustable bed frames, available to buy online.
Do the Serta mattresses sold here online contain fiberglass?
No, the ones we currently sell online do not contain fiberglass in any component.
