I am so glad they still make flippable, double-sided mattresses
It has been awhile since I went shopping for mattresses. I have always had the flippable, double-sided mattresses. However, when it was time for me to get a guest bed, I was shocked I could not find ANY double-sided mattresses for sale. I was perusing the serta.com website to see if I could possibly special order one, and lo and behold, I discovered the Serta Hotel Bed line with the flippable, double-sides! I am old-fashioned, and wanted an inner-spring mattress (not a fan of the memory or gel foam matttresses). I also wanted something in between firm and just a tad soft. The Nobility II Plush had what I needed. I really like the reinforced wire around the edge (it is covered in a foam so you don't feel it, but you feel the support by it not crushing as you get in/out of bed). The Nobility II Plush also has the thicker gauge of coil wire as well for extra durability. I got the 9 in. box springs. It's very supportive; however, I wish they would have put those plastic edge guards on the corners they used to put on box springs so the edges would not get torn or scuffed. The pillow-tops on both sides are incorporated into the mattress with a corded band around the top and bottom edge of the mattress; the pillow tops don't fee like they are just sewn "on top" of the main mattress like they used to be. The mattress itself is about 10 inches between the corded edges, with the pillowtops having about an inch on each side, thus accounting for the 12 inch thickness. In each corner on both sides, Serta has a sewn in a label for assisting in flipping and rotating your mattress, with each label having three months, and a couple of arrows, like rotating your wheels on your car, so you won't have to remember how your mattress was as you are in the process of flipping and rotating your mattress. Overall, I am very happy with my mattress. My guests have always had very sound sleeps on it. The fabric on the exterior of he mattress feels kind of like a damask/slick cotton blend. Not cheap feeling like a rough cotton. As I mentioned before, the springs/coils feel very supportive, and not mushy or too soft. The padding is also nice and compact, and not collapsible like memory foam or gels.
